Our School

As children of a loving God, the mission of Sacred Heart School is to assist the family in educating and fostering growth of the whole child -- spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and physically. Together we will guide our children to live as Christian members of the world community.

Located in Boise, Idaho’s capital city, Sacred Heart holds the distinction of being an Idaho Merit School. Our bi-parish enrollment numbers 238 students in grades pre-K through 8. We follow the State of Idaho guidelines and offer a comprehensive religious education program. Sacred Heart School has nine classroom teachers, and specialists in art, music and physical education. We have a part time nurse (on call daily) and a librarian.

We offer extra curricular activities to enrich the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well being of our students. These activities include: student council, chess club, drama club, brownies, scouts, choir, band, academic team, TVCS sports, and Catholic league basketball.

Throughout the year, several assemblies and activities are scheduled to enrich the student experience. Music programs brighten the school with seasonal performances. The Spring Fine Arts Festival help the students appreciate the arts.

Our students also participate in The Spelling Bee, The Geography Bee, National Council for Teachers of Mathematics Competition, Micron Math Counts, Science Fair, Invention Convention, Idaho State Science Competition, and Future Cities.

Our students are involved in their religion by participating in liturgies every Friday, Monday morning prayer services, a Seder Meal and living stations during Lent, and school wide retreats. Students put their faith into action through regular volunteer work at the St. Vincent de Paul foodbank, homeless shelters, and befriending special education students from Jackson Elementary.

Our facilities include the school building that houses eight classrooms, the gymnasium and stage, teacher’s lounge, nurse’s office, library, and administrative offices. Three separate buildings house our music/band and Title I classrooms, pre-K and Kindergarten rooms, Carolyn Flagan Memorial Science Lab, Art room, and recently completed A.L. Wiegand Technology Lab. We have a covered picnic area and large multi-purpose sports field with a baseball diamond, six basketball courts, and playground equipment.

Our school is very much indebted to our parents who do so much for us. Our Home and School Organization is active in many areas within the school and we welcome their involvement. We would not be the vibrant institution that we are without them.
